Baby Belly Spa was born after Crystal experienced the joy and trials of her pregnancy in 2005. She enjoyed
getting massages to relieve aches and pains as well as reduce stress, but had a tough time finding a place
that suited the expecting mom. After researching various avenues to help expecting moms Baby Belly was
created. At the heart of Baby Belly is the Imaging Center....which is not just about creating that first baby
picture. By investing in state-of-the art technology that would give Mom and Dad a high definition picture
of their baby before he or she was born, Crystal's hope was that Baby Belly would allow them to bond
early with their baby and become more invested in a healthy pregnancy.
Beyond the imaging, Crystal selected services and products that would educate, pamper and relax Mom.....
helping her to adjust to her ever changing needs in a nurturing, pregnancy-safe Spa Environment. All of
the therapists at Baby Belly have completed an additional certification in Pre-natal and Postpartum
massage beyond the state requirements for Licensed Massage Therapists. The Sonographers at Baby
Belly are all Registered with the ARDMS with years of experience in OB ultrasounds; your and your
baby’s safety is their top priority. Crystal received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from
Eastern Kentucky University in 2004. She managed a large grocery store for two years before moving to a
service industry, where she managed a team that serviced approximately 1,000 customers on a weekly
basis. She plans to open more locations of Baby Belly throughout the United States. She also enjoys
spending time with family and friends in her off time.
Dr. Banias's credentials include receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the Citadel, a Masters of Science in Human
Physiology at the University of Southern California, and Medical Doctorate at the Medical University of South Carolina,
Dr. Banias did his residency at Wright State University and his Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the Medical College
of Georgia. He is a Board Certified OB-GYN and a Fellowship Trained Perinatologist.
Dr. Banias' practice, Genesis OB/GYN, is located in Kettering, OH. Dr. Banias and his friendly, knowledgeable staff treat
each patient with kindness and compassion. The loving, cheerful atmosphere makes walking into the office a memorable,
welcoming experience.
Instructor / International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Kathy became a Registered Nurse in 1979 and specialized in Labor and Delivery until 1986 when she
began working for Dr. Randal Owen. She went on to become an International Board Certified Lactation
Consultant as well as a Certified Childbirth Instructor. She also became a Registered Sonographer in
November 2004 and has been specializing in OB ultrasounds since then. She has been married to her
husband Bart since 1989 and has two lovely teenage daughters. She spends most of her free time
keeping up with her daughters extracurricular activities at school. She also enjoys reading, exercising,
going to the movies, cruises, and vacationing whenever possible. She hopes to someday (when her
girls are out of school) become a doula.
Marsha – ARDMS / AAS Sonographer
Marsha holds degrees in Radiation Technology as well as Imaging Sciences (Ultrasound) from Morehead
State University. She is ARDMS / AAS registered. She has been working full time for the last 5 years at
Bluegrass High Risk Obstetrics while she studies for her tests to go to medical or PA school in the future.
She is currently expecting her first child with husband, Jeremy, and also enjoys running in her spare time.
Tonya-
RDMS, RTR Sonographer
Tonya graduated from St. Joseph
School of Radiologic Technology in 1997. She worked at
part of the Ovarian Cancer
Screening Program at the
Baby Belly she also currently works at Central Kentucky High Risk OB, where she has been since 2006.
She became RDMS Certified in 2008. She enjoys spending time with her daughter on her off time.
Andrea also received her education from Lexington Healing Arts Academy. In addition to her Pregnancy
training, she is also CPR and First Aid Certified. She has training in fundamentals of massage, pregnancy
massage, myofascial work, body movement, Asian bodywork, posture and gait, science integration,
hydrotherapy, specific treatment, stretching, special population massage, aromatherapy, structural and
application of kinesiology. She has been married for three years to her husband, Matthew, and they have a
beautiful 2 year old son. She also enjoys being outside at the park swinging or trying to master her
photography. She loves all music and spending time with family and friends. She plans to purchase her first
home and adopt a child that really needs her.
Kristina – Pre-Natal & Post-Partum Certified Licensed Massage Therapist
Before Kristina became a Licensed Massage Therapist, she worked for 15 years in a large OB/GYN practice in her
hometown of New Jersey as a medical assistant. In 2004 she began her massage training at Deborah Heart and
Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ. While her training included Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage techniques, she
excelled at Medical and Pregnancy Massage which have become her specialty. She also has experience and
training in Aromatherapy, Oriental Theory, Applied Energy, Kinesiology, Hot Stone Massage, and various other
Body Treatments. Kristina continued her education by obtaining certifications in Pregnancy/Infant Massage,
Preconception and Post-Partum Treatments, Raindrop Therapy, and Reiki II. She has been married to her husband,
Dameyon, since 1996, who is a Mental Health Technician with the VA Medical Center in Lexington. They have 3
dogs and numerous chickens on their farm in Lancaster, KY. Slowly they are trying to make their farm a sustainable
homestead. She also enjoys decorative painting, other crafts, gardening. She plans to pursue more education in
Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Acupressure, Reiki practice, and yoga instructor
training.
Abby – Pre-Natal & Post-Partum Certified Licensed Massage Therapist
Abby received her education from Lexington Healing Arts Academy. She enjoys working with special
populations. Before joining Baby Belly, she worked as an independent contractor at a chiropractor’s
office and did mobile massage therapy in the Lexington area. She has a beautiful daughter named Zoe
who is excited about becoming a big sister in May, when Abby and her husband Scott, welcome a son
into their family. She also enjoys doing anything outdoors (camping, kayaking, etc.), world causes, and
photography. Abby plans to become a NICU nurse in the future and travel to New Zealand, South
Africa, and Iceland, and do work in countries less fortunate than ours.
Kim – Esthetician
Kim is originally from Lexington, KY and enjoys helping people bring out the best in their skin. She
received her license from BCTCS in 2007 and also plans to go back to school for massage therapy in
2009. She is planning to get married in June 2010 to the father of her beautiful son, Marcus Jr. Kim
enjoys spending time with her family, going to Bingo, and shopping.
Denise – Licensed Nail Technician
As well as being a Licensed Nail Technician, Denise is also a Registered Dental Hygienist. She has
been doing nails for 6 years and also enjoys drawing, painting, and interior design. She is currently
busy planning her wedding for September 2009. In the future she hopes to visit Ireland and take an
Alaskan cruise.
